- An experienced middle leader
- A deputy headteacher
- An assistant headteacher
- A senior member of staff such as a Teaching School director
If you are not sure about your suitability for the programme, please contact us and we will assist you.
You can apply for this programme by completing this online form. Your application is made directly to NETSP.
The programme requires 4 full days out of school. The price for participants from maintained schools is £850. NETSP is applying for Department for Education funding for all eligible participants.
Assessment - NPQSL
The assessment for the programme involves running an improvement project in your school which lasts at least two terms. This initiative must be aimed at reducing variation in pupil progress and attainment, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching.
During your programme you will build a portfolio demonstrating how your project meets the assessment criteria. This will be submitted at the end of your programme. Our support and guidance will help you achieve this.
Once submitted, your work will be assessed against the Department for Education (DfE) criteria for the award of your NPQSL.
Assessment - NPQSL with 20 Masters' credits
You can opt to have your NPQSL work assessed against both the DfE and Newcastle University criteria to achieve Masters' credits as well as your NPQSL.
NPQSL with 20 Masters' credits incurs an additional cost of £200*. If you achieve the Masters' credits you can subsequently complete the Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Educational Leadership at Newcastle University next academic year. The cost of the remaining module of the PGCert is £1500*.
*This cost is for 2018/19, it may change in future years
